Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu on Thursday night made a surprise appearance at the birthday bash organised for Senator Zainab Kure, the wife of the former governor of Niger State, Engineer Abdulkadir Kure in Minna.
Aliyu’s presence at the birthday party took many by surprise, especially the celebrant due to the recent frosty relationship between Aliyu and Kure. It would be recalled that political relationship between the two had been cold as both differ in their political beliefs which generated a lot of tension between their supporters.
The height of the rattling between the two personalities reached its climax during the public trial of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry (JCI) instituted by the Aliyu-led government to look into cases of failed contracts and issues of misappropriation of funds during Kure’s administration. If the presence of Aliyu at the birthday bash came to many as a surprise, then the accolades he showered on his political gladiator may have thrown many off their feet as those present who were largely loyalists of Kure couldn’t believe their ears.
Many believe the visit was part of the move by Aliyu to reconcile with all his political foes in the state.
